On Saturday, April 14, the Lemont Environmental Committee hosted an all-day recycling event in the downtown Metra parking lot with the help of local businesses and community groups. Items like prescription medication, ink toner, cell phones, latex paint, motor oil and CFL light bulbs were collected.
The event also collected non-perishable food for the Lemont Food Pantries.
During the morning, several Lemont students and parent volunteers also helped plant between 15 and 20 new trees at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St.
