IHSA Football Playoffs: Lemont Heads to Oak Forest on Friday

The No. 1 Indians (10-0) will take on the No. 5 Bengals (7-3) at 7 p.m. at Oak Forest High School for Round 2 of the state playoffs, the Illinois High School Association announced Monday.

The undefeated Lemont High School football team will head to conference rival Oak Forest this Friday as they look to extend their postseason run.

The No. 1 Indians (10-0) will take on the No. 5 Bengals (7-3) at 7 p.m. Friday at Oak Forest High School, 15201 South Central Ave., the Illinois High School Association announced Monday afternoon.

Despite being the top seed in its playoff bracket, Lemont is not guaranteed home field advantage under IHSA rules.

According to IHSA.org, the higher seed hosts the game in the first round. In subsequent rounds, the school that has hosted fewer times during the current playoff series hosts the game. In the second round, the quarterfinal round and in any semifinal where the bracket was paired 1 through 16, the higher seed hosts.

Since Lemont played at home last week and Oak Forest played Thornton Fractional North in Calumet City, Oak Forest will host the second round.

In the first round of the IHSA playoffs last week, the Indians eliminated No. 8 Morgan Park with a 56-30 win. The Bengals beat No. 4 T.F. North 48-26.

On Oct. 21, Lemont beat Oak Forest 41-13 at home.
