Drop Off Winter Clothing at LHS Through Dec.11
Lemont High School’s Future Business Leaders of America is collecting gently used sweaters, coats, scarves, hats and gloves – as well as personal care and cleaning items – for community members in need.
Lemont High School’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is conducting a clothing drive through Tuesday, Dec. 11. Families who are cleaning out their closets to make room for holiday gifts are encouraged to drop off their donations at Lemont High School.
In partnership with Interact, the school’s community service organization, FBLA also will accept unopened personal care products during the event. Items will be donated to Hope and Friendship Ministries in Lemont.
Included among the most desired clothing items are gently used sweaters, coats, scarves, hats and gloves. Personal care items can include soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, cleaning products, napkins, paper plates and other items.
Students may make their donations from 7:30 to 7:55 a.m. in LHS Room N231 through Dec. 11. Community members may drop off their donations inside the school’s main entrance off of Porter Street.
The FBLA is the largest business career student organization in the world, and includes 215,000 students worldwide in its high school division. Lemont students have competed in regional and statewide contests through Illinois’s FBLA chapter.
The clothing drive is part of a student entry in an upcoming FBLA regional competition. The school’s FBLA chapter is co-sponsored by Business Education teachers John Aspel and Bill Mondrella.
