Police: Driver Flees After Crashing Truck Into Lemont Home
No one was injured in the accident, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Hillview and Keepataw.
Lemont police are searching for the motorist who crashed a red pickup truck into a house and fled the scene Sunday afternoon.
No one was injured in the crash, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Hillview Drive near Keepataw, said Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy.
Lemont Fire Protection District and Code Enforcement officials also responded to the scene due to the extensive structural damage to the home, Shaughnessy said.
"No one was injured in the house, and from what I'm told, one of the residents was extremely lucky because they were very close to where the truck crashed," he said.
Shaugnessy said emergency workers had to extricate the vehicle from the home before it was towed from the scene.
The motorist, who police believe is a male, will likely face charges once he is apprehended, Shaughnessy said. He declined to comment on reports that there were passengers in the vehicle.
