District 113A to Select New Officers, Committee Members
The board will vote Tuesday on a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer for the next year.
The Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to select officers and committee members for the upcoming year.
During April or May each year, the board considers organizational matters, such as filling board offices and setting dates for its regular meetings.
On Tuesday, board members will select a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer to take office, effective immediately. The president will then appoint board members to various district committees (Policy, Calendar, Finance and Audit, Negotiations, Wellness, Discipline, Community Engagement, Behavioral Intervention, Transportation, Employee Insurance).
Currently, Mike Aurelio is serving as president, Dave Molitor is vice president, Cindy Kelly is secretary and Business Manager Barbara Germany is treasurer.
The board will also consider Tuesday an intergovernmental agreement between District 113A and the Village of Lemont, which will move its offices to the currently vacant Central School this summer as Village Hall undergoes scheduled renovations.
During the district's Feb. 21 meeting, President Mike Aurelio announced that village officials expressed interest in utilizing the school, which the board voted to close last year due to budgetary constraints.
In November, village officials agreed to move forward this summer with necessary maintenance to Village Hall and the adjoining former police station, 418 Main St.
The building, constructed in the late 1890s, was last renovated in 1991. Although a recent assessment showed no major issues with plumbing, HVAC, roofing or overall structure, deferred maintenance could cost the village hundreds of thousands of dollars in the next three to five years, village officials said.
The project is expected to begin in late June and continue through late November, creating the need for temporary office space.
Under the agreement, the village is responsible for all utility costs, as well as telephone and Internet.
The special meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Old Quarry Middle School LRC, 16100 W. 127th St.
