Corvette Fishtails, Strikes Vehicle on McCarthy Road

Accident occurred Sunday night East of Bell Road.

No injuries were reported following a two-car accident on McCarthy Road (123rd St.) about a half-mile east of Bell Road at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

A spokesperson for the Cook County Sheriff’s Department said a 43-year-old man from Homer Glen driving a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette was attempting to pass a 2001 Ford Excursion while traveling eastbound on 123rd St. The Corvette driver said his car fishtailed, struck the Excursion, and after contact, both vehicles skidded off the roadway.

According to police, the driver of the Corvette refused medical transport, as did the driver of the Excursion and her four female passengers. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The driver of the Corvette, whose name was not available at press time, was cited for improper passing on the left and failure to reduce speed.
