A friend sent me this link and I think it's important for Lemont voters to see this. These are online comments made by 113A BOE candidate Susan Petrarca to the Wall Street Journal, in 2011. Her comments were made on an article entitled, Many Students Don't Seem To Be Working Hard Enough and can be found here;
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703859304576307604002432280.html

She states the Lemont High School students can't do basic grade school multiplication in their heads. She slams both Lemont school districts saying there is a "total breakdown of curriculum, methods and assessments" and calls our schools "abysmal".

As a parent of a LHS student, I am very offended by her comments. LHS has been named as one of the top 50 high schools in Chicago. My children have received excellent educations at both the grade school and high school levels. For Mrs. Petrarca to go out of her way to bash the students of these schools and say that they can't do basic multiplication in their heads is equally repulsive as it is untrue. What is behind her motivation to slam our community and our public schools to a national news source? Is she looking to make a name for herself, does she get some type of thrill criticizing the intelligence of our high school students?

Every high school parent needs to read this. You and your slate running mates have lost my vote and I will make sure that all other high school parents I know, do not support any of you three as well.

Thank you Cathy for sharing this link. I hope every voter in Lemont makes the effort to educate themselves concerning the current school board candidates.
I would never support an individual who has made such grievous statements concerning our community and children. Mrs. Petrarca would never have my vote.

I am pretty sure that a slate that attacks the reputations of children in Lemont and implies they're dumb would be on the front page (right near the top) of the manual, "how to NOT get elected to your local school board". These three are done.

Based on their comments it is important for the Petrarca, Bushnell and Clausen slate be honest with their campaign slogan. It is obvious that their "Kid's First" slogan is wrong and not true. Their real slogan should be one of the following, Lemont Tea Party First, Americans for Prosperity First, Dan Proft First or The Koch Brothers First. Any or all of these would apply. Or maybe Throw Lemont Students Under The Bus First.
