Boys Basketball: Lemont to Sell Tickets in Advance of 3A Regional Championship
The Indians (25-2) will take on regional host Providence Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Lemont High School's boys basketball team, which is enjoying its strongest season in decades, will take on regional host Providence Catholic on Friday for the IHSA Class 3A regional championship.
Pre-sale tickets will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday in Lemont's Pupil Personnel Services Office, 800 Porter St.
After the ticket pre-sale, only a small number of tickets will be available at the door on the night of the game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at Providence Catholic, 1800 W. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox.
Fans who plan to attend the game and purchase tickets at the door should enter Door 8 or Door 14. Fans who purchase tickets in advance should enter through Door 9.
Winner of 15 straight games, Lemont is 25-2 this season, with a 13-1 record in South Suburban Conference play. The Indians shared the SSC Blue title with Hillcrest, marking their first conference basketball title since winning the Suburban Prairie Conference championship in 1995-96.
Lemont advanced to the regional championship after defeating Chicago Corliss 59-55 in Tuesday's semifinal. The school will be looking for its fourth IHSA regional crown, and its first since 1991.
The Indians are one victory short of what is believed to be the school record for wins in a season. The 1974-75 team, led by Hall of Fame coach John Jones, went 26-4 and won the school’s only IHSA sectional title.
The winner of the IHSA Providence Catholic Regional will advance to play the victor of the IHSA Evergreen Park Regional in the first semifinal game of the IHSA Rich East Sectional. That game is slated for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
