(Lisle, Ill.) On Thursday, June 28 Choose DuPage held its annual board of directors meeting at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. This meeting informed board members of Choose DuPage’s accomplishments thus far based on aggressive goals set at the beginning of the year. The annual meeting also updates board members on current initiatives as well as ongoing plans of action to further Choose DuPage’s mission to expand business in DuPage County.

Choose DuPage highlighted the success of attracting new business; retaining and how they assist the existing businesses to take full advantage of the opportunities in the county. Some examples cited were Edward Don, Accuperf and Magnetrol. Over the past six months, marketing efforts have greatly increased including the re-launch of the Choose DuPage website, purchasing a trade show/exhibit booth, and more efficient, unique and cost-conscious forms of marketing to direct those seeking information about the county’s many opportunities to Choose DuPage’s site and staff.

“We are pleased to see Choose DuPage emerge at the forefront when site selectors, employers and individuals go online and search DuPage County. This is done by utilizing creative marketing strategies that are often free or available to us at a low cost but allows us to reach a large audience,” says Greg Bedalov, Choose DuPage president and CEO. “As we continue to expand our efforts, we hope to continue to promote all of DuPage County’s diverse opportunities to businesses and families.

Board members also heard from Dr. Nicole Cavender, vice president of science and conservation at the Morton Aboretum. Dr. Cavender spoke about the importance of environmental sustainability as a key component of sound economic development.

In late September, the Ryder Cup golf tournament will be held in Medinah. Choose DuPage looks forward to participating in the world-renown event and will use this opportunity to continue promoting DuPage County’s diverse offerings and opportunities to an international audience.
